Can NYC become the ‘Crypto Capital’ of the World? New York Mayor Eric Adams declared the city’s inaugural crypto summit on Monday, while reaffirming his ambition to establish New York as “the crypto capital of the planet. ”
New York will host a significant crypto summit on May 20, just two months following former U. S. President Donald Trump’s similar event at the White House.
During a press conference on Monday, Mayor Eric Adams advocated for the city’s expanding blockchain sector, accompanied by Figure Firm co-founder June Ou and Traction and Scale CEO Richard Hecker.
Adams stated New York is emerging as a formidable rival to California’s Silicon Valley in the realm of crypto innovation. He also praised blockchain technology’s potential to enhance financial inclusion, especially for communities that have historically been marginalized from conventional financial systems.
“Finance is an element that can influence those communities that have traditionally struggled with access to banks and means to save their resources and capital,” he remarked. “My objective remains unchanged from day one as mayor: to establish New York City as the crypto capital of the planet. ”
